Summer Project

ついに完成しました、念願のフェンス。でも、予算の都合でフロントヤードだけですけれど、これがあるだけで家の外観も雰囲気も随分違います。なんと言っても、不法侵入者に悩まされる事もなくたった訳です。
We have finally finished the front yard fence. Because of the budget, we could not do the fence all the way around our property. However, it looks really different and nice. More importantly, we don't have to worry about invasion.

フェンスの設置に費やしたのは約２週間。暑いさなか、近所の人も手伝ってくれて、ありがたい事でした。この辺りは大昔、海だったそうでフェンスの柱を立てるのに地面を掘り返すと、砂と岩盤と粘土層が交互に重なっていました。穴堀が一番大変で、一つの穴を掘るのに丸一日かかりました。とにかく、疲れました。
We have spent about two weeks building the fence. We really appreciate our neighbours helping out during the hot summer days. This area used to be an ocean, so when we were digging the holes for the posts, the ground had layers of sand, sandstone rocks, and clay. Therefore, digging the holes was the hardest part of the project, and we spent almost a whole day to make one hole.
