ア〜やっと出来た、リビングルームのカーテン。何しろ窓のサイズが大きくてライニングをつけたりで、作るのも一苦労だったけれどやっと出来ました。生地だけを見ていたのと実際に窓にかけてみたのとでは迫力が違うなあと思いながら、それでも部屋全体が明るくなったような気がする。殺風景なところにカラフルな色も入り気持ちも明るく？！なるかと思う。











１２日はギャビンの誕生日でオーストラリアから贈り物が届き、その中にあったすてきな”Welcome"　サイン。玄関に飾ってます。（後から聞いた話によるとこれはギャビンの妹イボンの手作りだそうです。）

Unwanted visitors

Because of our location at the edge of the city, our new place has plenty of wild animal visitors. The most notable are the pronghorn antelope that wander in from the prairies into the suburbs to eat the greener lawns. We saw a herd close to the house during the final walk-through before closing, and then saw them frequently along the nearby streets (the first photo) after moving in.
Then we found the antelope in our very own backyard. This was wonderful at first, but then they were doing their business on our lawns - yuck! Now we want them out of our yards. We really need a fence!
In the meantime, we sprayed a "critter" repellent around the yard (for deer, antelope, rabiits, etc.). Hopefully this will work. Unfortunately we see an occasional rabbit come in to do his business in the yard. We'll do what we can to deter the unwanted visitors until the fence is up.

New Place

新居に越してくるまでに、ペンキ塗りや床の入れ替えなどで改装した。ペンキ塗りはすべて私たちで行ったが、何しろ素人なので大変だった。テレビで見ている限りではそんなに大変な仕事には見えなかったが、やってみるとなかなか重労働だ。これで家の中は快適になったが、フロント、バックヤードはこれから整備しなければならない。どうやら以前の持ち主が全く手入れをしていなかったらしく、雑草のジャングルになっていてかなりひどい状態。

We painted the living room, dining room and the master bedroom, and changed the flooring of the living room and half-bathroom before we moved in. We did all of the painting but we didn't think the painting was such hard work because it was the first time for us. When we watched the TV shows, painting did not seem so hard. After painting and flooring, the inside of the house was very nice however we still need to fix the front yard and backyard. It seems that the previous owner didn't take care of the outside at all, especially the backyard is a weed jungle!

5月なのに雪

４月一杯で今まで住んでいたアパートを引き払い、一戸建ての家に引っ越しました。今年はじめから探し始め３月初めにオファーを出し、４月１１日にクロージングを終え、やっと４月末に荷物を運び、、、ということですっかりブログはごぶさたしてしまいました。

引越しはギャビンの職場の教授陣が手伝ってくれて、短時間で終わりました。彼らに日当を払うとしたら高いよねえと思いながらの引越しでしたが、お昼にココナッツカレーを作って差し入れ。

さあ。やっと新しい住所で春を楽しもうと思ったら、５月になって雪ですよ。気温は３４度F　（２度C）！一体ここはどうなっているのか。写真をのせたかったのですが、私のマックが修理中で違うコンピューターを使っているため写真は次回にのせることにします。

今週土曜日はギャビンの大学でも卒業式があり、職員は全員出席義務があるそうで彼もガウンとキャップ着用。今回はちゃんとフードもありで（前回インディアナで卒業式に出席したときはフードなしでした）正規職員として卒業式に出席するのは初めてなので緊張しているそうです。
