Memorial day

On May 28th, it was Memorial Day. We visited Fort Meigs in this town, Perrysburg. This Fort was built in 1810s for protection of this town from the British military. The Fort was made of wood and contained buildings and some cannons. Because of the Memorial Day weekend, event participants duplicated the life at the time of the war. We participated in a patrol by soldiers outside the camp.
５月２８日はメモリアルデーでした。この街にある、Fort Meigs　に行ってきました。
この砦は、１８１０年代にアメリカ軍がイギリス軍からこの地方を守るために作られたものだそうで、木製の砦に幾つかの建物、その中には大砲も備えられています。この週末はメモリアルデーという事で、当時の生活風景を再現して見せてくれました。そのなかで、砦の外のパトロールに参加。











This is the patrol of soldiers. We followed these soldiers then suddenly we were attacked by Indians!
兵隊たちによるパトロールがこれです。私たちはこの兵隊たちの後ろをついて行きます。すると突然、インディアンの襲撃。

In addition, the enemy came to us!!!
おまけに、向こうの方から敵が向かってきました。
There are no real bullets used here, but it was very noisy and smoky.
空砲でしたが、かなりの銃撃音でびっくり。


These are the Ohio soldiers.
これが、オハイオ軍。

These are Indians and their followers that ambushed us.
これがインディアンとその仲間。

These are the Canadian soldiers.
これは当時のカナダ軍だそうです。
