Race for the Cure

On Saturday May 19th, we ran the "Race for the Cure" (sponsored by Susan Koman foundation - breast cancer research and support institute) in Columbus, Ohio.
We drove 2 and a half hours to Columbus therefore we left about 5 am and arrived around 7:30 am. More than 37,000 participated in this race. It was much more than the Indy Mini Marathon. The race was only 5 km running, so we could run the whole course. Unfortunately, Kozue was beaten by Gavin this time. Until last year, she was much faster than Gavin but no more. This photo is Gavin who was happy to beat Kozue.
５月１９日土曜日、コロンバスで行われた"Race for the Cure"（乳癌早期発見と治療研究機関主催）に行ってきました。
コロンバスまでは約２時間半かかるので、５時過ぎには自宅を出発し現地には７時半到着。
参加者の数を聞いてびっくり、何と３７、０００人以上。この間のインディのミニマラソンよりも多い。今回は５kmなのでゆっくり走り完走。しかし残念な事に、ギャビンに負けてしまった。去年までは私のほうが断然早かったのに。それで、これが私に勝って誇らしげな彼であります。




Breast cancer survivors received pink T-shirts and caps so that everyone could distinguish them from other participants. After the finish line, the breast cancer survivors got a lot of souvenir gifts from sponsors of this race. The following photo is Kozue with all the gifts that she got.
乳癌のサバイバーはピンクのTーシャツにキャップをもらい、他の人と区別が付くようになっていて、ゴールをするとメダルやバラの花、他に沢山のお土産をもたせてくれます。
そこで、もらったものを全て身に付けて撮ったのがこの写真。



After the race, we were in a traffic jam on the Interstate. The following photo is Gavin wearing the bunny ears in the back seat of the car. Truck drivers were looking at him and laughing.
レース後、帰り道高速道路の渋滞に引っかかり、車の後ろの席で私のもらったバーニーの耳を付けて喜んでいるギャビン。トラックのおじさん達が見て笑っていた。
