Birthday

Today is Gavin's Birthday.
We went to Toledo Zoo to celebrate Gavin's birthday (not really).
This is today's birthday boy (not for exhibition ).


今日はギャビンの誕生日です。

そのお祝いにと言う訳でもありませんが、
トレド動物園へ行ってきました。

これが、きょうのバースデーボーイ(展示の動物ではありません）。

The main purpose of the visit was to see the polar bear cubs in the zoo. They were born last November and the exhibit started last Saturday. Three polar bear cubs were born in this zoo last year, but we could see only the twins today. They are so cute and they are good swimmers too.

今日のお目当ては何と言っても、シロクマの赤ちゃん。去年の１１月に生まれ、先週の土曜日から外で見る事ができるようになりました。この動物園では、去年シロクマの赤ちゃんが３頭生まれましたが、今日見る事ができたのはそのうちの双子の赤ちゃんです。可愛いよ〜。また、泳ぎも上手でした。

Gavin was looking forward to see Reptile house that has Gavin's favorite friends, snakes, frogs and alligators. He used to display a poster of snakes and frogs in his room. That is bad taste!

ギャビンが楽しみにしていたのはは虫類と両生類、ギャビンの大好きなお友達、つまり蛇やカエルやワニ類です。彼は独身時代、自分の部屋に蛇とかえるのポスターを飾っていました。趣味悪いよね。

Another highlight in the zoo was here, it was too huge to take the whole body in one picture.
他にハイライトとしては、あまりの大きさにカメラに納まりきらなかった、この方。

This is a hippo. He has a weight of 600 pounds.

ヒッポ君です。６００ポンドあるそうな。

This is a mother elephant with her baby. The most popular was the polar bear family in the zoo but this family also was cute.

こちらはシロクマ君親子に人気を奪われてしまったけれど、まだまだ可愛い象の親子。This is an African lion that used to be in a show (Sigfrid and Roy). His face was cute.

これは以前、マジックショウにいたという、ライオン君。結構可愛い顔をしていました。
