Another job interview in MONTANA

Gavin had a another job interview in Montana state last Friday. When he came back, he brought several postcards because he forgot to bring the camera with him.
ギャビンのもう一つの就職面接がモンタナ州であり、先週の木曜日にここを発ち土曜日にかえって来ました。今回はカメラを持って行くのを忘れてしまったため、絵はがきを買って来てもらいました。

This is the Rocky Mountains. He said it is really like this. Wow!
これがロッキーマウンテン。本当にこんな風に見えるそうです。すごい。

This is the city of Billings, Gavin said the airport was on top of the hill which can be seen on the left side. The cliff edges are called "the rims".

これが Billingsの街で、左にある丘の上に空港があるそうです。この丘の端は「リム」と呼ばれているそうです。

Montana state is cowboy country (we didn't know that). But as you can see a cowboy's picture is part of the postcard. Kozue really wants to see the wild buffalo in Yellowstone National Park. That is upper left on the postcard.

モンタナはカウボーイカントリーだそうで（知らなかった）ご覧の通りカウボーイも絵はがきの一部に。私が一番見たいのは、野生のバッファローです（左上）。

New Nike Watch

Kozue's Nike watch that we bought 2 years ago was broken when she went to Japan. Actually, it was the band that was broken. She got a cheap watch at Narita airport because she needed to have one for the airplane schedules. We were looking for a store that could repair the Nike watch band but we couldn't find anyone in the local area. Fortunately, the watch was still under warranty. We called Customer Service at Nike, and sent the watch out for repair. Then we were told that the watch had a manufacturing defect. As a result, Nike replaced it with a new Nike watch that is shown in the following picture. Kozue saw many complaints about this model on the website, so if you have a similar type of watch, and have problems, you should call Nike Customer Service immediately. They take care of the problem promptly.
２年前に買ったナイキの腕時計バンドが日本から帰って来る寸前に切れてしまい、成田空港で急きょ手ごろな値段の腕時計を買うはめになってしまいました。時計自体には問題はなく、修理はバンドの取り替えだけなのですが、なかなかこのタイプのナイキ腕時計を修理してくれる所がなく、結局ナイキのカストマーサービスへ電話し郵送で修理を依頼。で、結果は腕時計バンドが欠陥品であった事が分かり、保証期間内だったので、全く新しい時計と交換してくれる事になりました。私の時計は旧モデルだったので、同じモデルがなく新しいモデルを送って来てくれました。それが、これ。このモデルの時計はトラブルが多いらしく、ウエブサイトでも随分多くのreview が出ていました。もし、誰か同じような時計で問題があればナイキのカストマ−サービスへ真っ先に連絡をした方が良いと思います。すぐに対応してくれます。

Christmas in April

Since 2weeks ago, snow has come and gone away. But surprisingly, it started snowing this evening and snow has covered everything in 1 hour. We feel like that Christmas has come again. Although it is already in the middle of April, we have no idea when the beautiful flower season will be . We are having a lon~g winter this year.

２週間程前から、雪が降ったりやんだりですが今日は夕方から降り出し１時間も経たないうちに、外はすっかり真っ白になってしまいました。何だかまた、クリスマスがやって来たような感じです。これでは、何時になったら花の咲きほこる季節になるのか予想も着きません。もう４月の中旬なのに。今年は本当に長い冬です。

Easter Tulip?

April 8th was Easter day but Kozue could not go to church because she did not feel very good. This was very disappointing to her. Easter Day is very important for Christians. That is the celebration of the day of Christ's resurrection. Usually we celebrate the day in the Spring, but this year we still have snow in April. In particular, the temperature this year was lower than on Christmas! Wh------y?
４月８日はイースターでしたが、私は教会に行く寸前になって気分が悪くなり、教会には行けませんでした。残念。イースターはクリスチャンにとって大事な日で、十字架で死んだイエスキリストが甦った日とされています。例年であればイースターと一緒に春の訪れを祝うのですが、今年は４月に入ってからも毎日のように雪が降り、このイースターはクリスマスより気温が低くなってしまいました。なんで〜。


Gavin came back home from Church after 12:30pm. He said it was a long worship service (but it was shorter than Pastor Masaki's messages!). He also brought one pot of tulips from Helen and Leonard. On the day we had promised that Gavin would buy a tulip for Kozue, but since he got the tulips from Helen and Leo, he was happy he didn't have to buy it. Although the outside is still cold, we can enjoy the poinsettias we bought last Christmas and our new Easter tulips.
教会に行ったギャビンが長い礼拝だったと言って帰って来たのが１２時半近くでしたが（正木先生よりは短い）、ヘレンとレオナルドからと言って、チューリップをもらってきました。ギャビンとはその日チューリップを買いに行く約束をしていたのですが、「偶然」と言うよりはギャビンは買わなくて済んだのでウキウキで帰って来た訳です。現金な奴。ということで、今は寒い外の事は忘れて、去年クリスマスに買ったポインセチアともらって来たイースターチューリップを楽しむかな、といった所です。

Concert in Michigan

Our friend's concert was held on April 1st at her university in Michigan. Kozue went to the concert. Our friend Yoko performed a clarinet solo with the orchestra that day. That was a very precious experience. Kozue heard she started to play the clarinet at the age of 12. Also, she plays piano very well (Kozue doesn't improve her piano skills much. So sad. )Her university is close to Lake Michigan. It is well known that there is a lot of snow in Winter. However, on the day it was nice Spring weather except for the strong winds. On the way to her university, Kozue's car had a problem that the rubber of the windshield was peeling off. After all of that, we had to repair the whole windshield.
友人のコンサートが４月１日ミシガンの彼女の大学であり、久々にクラッシクを聞きに行きました。彼女のクラリネットソロとオーケストラの競演でしたが、クラリネットのソロと言うのは初めて聞いたので貴重な経験です。彼女は１２歳からクラリネットを始めたそうです。彼女はピアノも上手でうらやましい限りです　（私のピアノは全然上達しないし）。彼女の大学は、ミシガン湖の近くにあり、かなりの豪雪地のようです。この日は春の陽気、でもすごい強風で高速道路を走行中、フロントグラスのゴム枠が右半分はずれてしまい、焦ってしまった。で、結局修理に出し、新しいフロントグラスに入れ替えました。
